Preparation may include leveling the subfloor and adding a cement backer board. In some cases more extensive preparation may be needed depending on the previous flooring. After the subfloor is prepared, the installer will determine the tile layout. A thinset mortar is used to set the tiles in and spaces will be placed in between to ensure an even placement.
